My First Moms day! Beach and Breakfast
It is so crazy! I am a mom, and I have an 11-month year old baby boy. Here is the series of events from the moment I woke up on my first official Mother’s Day of my life.
7:23am- Jack cries and I place the pacifier in his mouth to place him back to sleep maybe just for 15 more minutes to assist my Saturday hang over.
8:00am- we are up! Oh well.
8:15am- diaper is changed, I have brushed my teeth, and made it to the bathroom while he crawls around on my bathroom floor.
8:30am- we walk downstairs and my husband has flowers, a present, and breakfast made on the table. Bacon, eggs, avocado, a buttered bagel, and thank goodness, a mimosa! I of course share the breakfast with Jack. What is in the bag? Two massages- #bestpresentever – not at all needed……
9:30am- Ryan tells me my day options…. A girl like me needs options.
9:31am- we are going to the beach! Malibu, Paradise Cove
10:00am- we get ready and pack the car…….
12:45pm- we are on the road to Malibu, baby is in the back seat, we are rocking out to Fleetwood Mac in the car, I may have a small mimosa buzz.
2:00pm- we arrive in Malibu at Paradise Cove (well I won’t get into my thoughts on this Disneyland, Tourist of a trap place), we pay the $30.00-dollar parking fee. Need I say More?
2:01pm- “Ryan do we have a reservation, as I push Jack in the stroller.”- Jen “Babe we don’t need a reservation.”- Ryan (Cut to: having 20 people help push our stroller into the restaurant due to boredom of a 45 person line out the door. 99.1 degrees outside; 2 ½ hour wait, and a cut nap time baby). The sand seemed like a good option.
3:00pm – We sit on the sand- Jack is overwhelmed with Wonder as he sets his eyes on the ocean for the first time. (Cut to: Ryan and I look at each other and nothing else mattered. Ryan bought beers, we ate snacks, and watched our son slam sand into his mouth.) The moments here were perfect. This was parenthood, and my amazing husband gave me a moment to celebrate Mother’s Day that would be a Jack Conroy milestone. – The California beach.
4:00…..pm – Leave-Traffic- Baby is asleep in the car, we pop into our home to change and set off to Pasadena to see Grandma Betts. We stop to get flowers and cards, Ryan is feeding baby in the car with his first bottle of the night. We were going to Green Street Restaurant in Pasadena. AKA Home of the Trader Joes- Pasadena Salad.
7:30pm- My mom and family are so excited to see JACK. There are pink flowers everywhere, my mom bought me my favorite flower, a Hydrangea. We exchange “Mother’s Day” cards and the family is there to sit down, eat, and love.
8:00pm- In the middle of dinner my father and mother hand me a card. I open it while feeding Jack, and my siblings are enjoying their meals. I read the card… and (Cut to in my memory; that moment when my father told my sorority the night of my initiation words I will never forget-an unforgettable moment)- This was a card I will never forget, in fact I broke out into a weeping cry. “The gift of parenthood is thankless, which is the hardest job, yet the most rewarding. Happy Mother’s Day to our daughter Jen.”
I am so Lucky-
9:00pm Desert has been had, baby is near his edge, my mommy is posing with flowers. (Cut to: a NOTE TO MY MOM- Thank you, you will never know how much I think you are my most beautiful jewel in my life. You have taught me that I can be the woman you are)
9:15pm Family hugs and we drive back home.
10:30 pm we put our son in his crib. It was the most unforgettable day, and certainly the most memorable Mother’s Day.
Happy Mother’s day everyone-
