Upon our very first visits to the doctors office we asked all technicians, nurses, and those who could be able to tell what the gender was of our child to keep it from us. For the first and second trimesters everyone was trying to guess. This was a fun part of the pregnancy, seeing the reactions of my belly growth, thus people thinking it is a girl vs. a boy.
Who knew you could have a party, photo shoot, family getaway, or just an intimate affair to reveal the gender of your unborn baby. We had our doctor write it down on a piece of paper and we hid it in my grandmother’s dresser of our house.
I actively looked on The infamous Pinterest and searched “gender reveal ideas”, I was shocked to see how many people did this, and all the creative ways one couple could announce their gender. I found several that I liked and here they were:
- Popping white color balloons and having the confetti color of your gender sprinkle throughout
- The cake- you gotta love the cake, have both colors on the outside, but the color of the gender inside. Once you cut it- you reveal the gender.
- The surprise box of balloons- fill a large box up with the balloon colors of the gender and open it together in front of friends and family.
- A piƱata for the couple to dive into with the gender color of candy to spill out.
We chose the cake and the surprise box of balloons. My husband and I set out to have an intimate party with our closest friends and family. We decorated the house in both gender colors, and had our friends order the cake, and box of balloons with copies of the paper from our doctor. We placed the paper reveal from our doctor in an envelope to our friends, thus we would not be able to ask questions or know. As we set up for the party the cake and box were set aside and ready for guests to arrive.
I placed the ultrasound pictures in a frame and bought two color felt pens, pink and blue. As guests arrived we asked them to sign the frame with their names in the color of the gender they thought the baby would be. We then asked all our guests into one room, and opened the box of balloons. A boy for us! I have never seen so many fun reactions, and will never forget my father nearly hopped over some friends to hug my husband and I.
Later, guests enjoyed the cake which was also just as fun. I highly recommend a reveal. You will remember it like we will.
