He is Blessed

June was a big month! Jack turned one, and there was so much to do. Maria, Jack’s Nanny is very sweet. She does all that she can for Jack, and she is constantly asking me when jack would have his first baptismal. I knew that Jack was not going to be one of those fresh out the womb babies at the altar. I knew he would be baptized a little later, but also feared that this was not normal. I did refer to my childhood baptismal photos and saw that I had been baptized as a young infant. Ryan and I knew his one year birthday was in June, and Jack had still not been baptized, we knew we had to step on it.

We chose a local church to start the process. Picking god parents is a very important thing. Essentially, our god parents are the next in line to care for Jack. Thus it was obvious who those two people were. I chose my best friend, and sister Heather betts to be the god mother. In the filipino language, which is called Taglog, god mother is called Ninang. This is such an important role. Heather has been there for me through all the good and bad in my life, and I trust in her that she would care for Jack through the eyes of God. In choosing our God Father, Ryan naturally chose his best friend who is like a real brother to him, Charlie. Charlie has always been there for Ryan and I as a couple. Ryan trusts Charlie and there is no better male role model in Ryan’s eyes for Jack. Perfectly, Heather and Charlie introduced Ryan and I from the start.

We wanted a simple day, no big fusses. I remember my baptism through photos, and it appears as though my mother through a party similr to my first year old birthday. We didn’t want that. Jack’s baptism would have his immediate family members there and his god parents.

The entire process was simple and beautiful, our baptism class had children up to two years old thus we felt better that we completed such an important step when we as a family were ready, and fitting after his first birthday. After the ceremony we had a family brunch and thanked our lord above for having us all together.

Jack if you read this later- here are some funny tid bits you may have never known.
