Newborn & Mommy Essentials

By July 11, 2016 No Comments

After the baby shower comes putting together that amazing Nursery, and putting away all the new baby supplies. I was that mommy to be who cleaned out everything before week 36. I literally went to my storage unit and organized that before I even made changes to the house. I wanted to make sure all was in order and organized.

The Truth is- you can never ever really get too prepared. There is nothing like those first feelings minutes after you leave the hospital with your child and loved ones. You think to yourself, ” Oh My god, what have I just done and am I going to do this right?”.

The newborn weeks go by fast, yet feel like years. I still think all those first days of the first two weeks have mushed and gelled together. It all seems like a blur due to sleepless nights, hormones changing, weight coming off, trying to get the breasts to produce, and trying to get the little to latch. There are just too many changes all at once. However these items I have listed for both your little newborn and mommy are essential. Honestly- they are life changing and help make everything a little easier.

Newborn:

  • The Uppababy Vista
This is the Bentley of Strollers. Hands down. The Mesa car seat is easy and goes with the Vista. However, the bassinet that comes with this stroller set is FANTASTIC. It is like a luxury bed for a baby, easy to transport, and really you need nothing else for your baby to sleep in for 4 weeks.
  • The Munchkin Wipe Warmer
You need no other warmer, if you got a bottle warmer, any sort of warmer other than a diaper wipe warmer return it. This warmer is essential to help the baby not cry turning the minimum 6 diaper changes you will do in one day. Lessen the tantrums you will see.
  • The Halo Bassinet
Although I mentioned the UppaBaby, this bassinet is great for when the baby needs to sleep close to you. You can see the child breathing at all angles, and it has a great night light. It is an easy tool for the baby to be right by you in bed, but not actually be in your bed.
  • Pampers Newborn Diapers
They just are the best. Period. We tried Honest, Huggies, and all. You will see why the hospitals choose this brand. They are just better. The urine strip is everything as you know when to change your little before tears.
  • Dr. Brown newborn Bottles
My mother literally stated that it was unfair that I had these high tech bottles. Dr. Brown’s Natural Flow® is the only baby bottle to feature an internal vent system that: helps preserve vitamins C, A, & E by minimizing oxidation of breast milk and formula provides positive-pressure vacuum-free feeding similar to breastfeeding; and helps reduce colic, spit-up, burping and gas by eliminating negative pressure and air bubbles. If you want to burp your baby easier, or prevent tummy issues- get these bottles.

Mommy:

  • The Bravado Nursing Bra
It is a snap bra that is easy for breastfeeding and support. It is the Original Nursing Bra. Their vision was to make nursing bras infinitely more comfortable and stylish while supporting new nursing moms through all of the highs and lows of breastfeeding. Just get one in black and beige and all will be right for you.
  • The Medela Symphony
This nursing pump is honestly my best friend. I have the manual, and small pump device, but nothing is like the symphony. In fact I am not sure you can register for this industrial device. The symphony is what the hospital provided. It is huge and has more power. I rented mine from the hospital. Mommies- do not leave the hospital without this thing. I really feel that I have had a better breastfeeding experience and saved time because of this device. I rented mine for $3.00 a day. Worth every penny.
  • Lactation Tea
Just get it. It will calm you and help supply last and flowing.
  • The Belly Bandit
This is a helpful belly belt that assists with shaping your abdominal region post pregnancy. It is a lifesaver.
