Watch him Grow

By August 21, 2016 No Comments

Everyone says be careful the time goes so quick; they are grown before you know it. As a mom who works two jobs, believe me it goes even faster.

As Jack turned two months, we started a mommy and me course at Pump Station. This was MY time with him, of course I had him at night, and on weekends, but time flies and it never feels like enough time. It is during these next weeks I really started to see Jack transform into an infant, and leave his newborn stage. I learned that talking, singing, toys, and all things interactive were vital. Jack was just getting his initial round of immunizations and taking 4 oz. bottles. Growing was an understatement. During his two months Jack was giggling, trying to hold his head up, and definitely eating more. At this point, I was off breastfeeding because I was just not producing milk, so I switched him to Enfamil- Newborn.

I knew at this point while Jack was 2 months and turning 3 months a schedule was crucial. I hired my nanny Maria after extensive research. Maria cannot work on the weekdays, but only on the weekend. The very first day she worked I didn’t want to leave the house. I remember going to Target, a MAC event, and brunch at a local spot. I remember checking the monitor every hour.  I learned that Maria was everything I thought a nanny was! Maria showed me how to sterilize all of Jack’s bottles, give him weekly baths after softening his cradle cap, keeping Jack’s skin soft and warm at all times. All the while she cleaned my house from top to bottom. I was lucky to have found her. The weekends with Maria allowed me to finish all the needed errands and get prepared for the work week.

I soon realized that my mommy friends were so what I needed. I was lucky for Pump Station and all my new mom friends. I learned that soon Jack needed Tummy Time most of the day, and soon those every 3 hour feeds could turn into every 4, and a baby sleeping 6-8 hr. nights. Being a mom is hard but a beautiful process. Shortly, Jack was also now taking walks with me, driving around town with me, and having a few days a week with my parents as a short term day care.

During Month two and three the little things I saw in Jack were absolutely beautiful. He laughed at me, smiled at me, when I walked into a room holding him- he stared at me. I feel like a mom, and it is so wonderful. It is really a crazy experience, as Jack gets bigger and older I just want to be with him more. I know that the months are years to come are going to be filled with so much more. I really cannot wait.
